The GreenPool Mobile Applications

The GreenPool app will be designed so that both consumers and eco-friendly stores may engage freely with all the features of the GreenPool service. It is both the ultimate companion for the Parisian city-goer who is looking to do some shopping, save some money and while doing so help cleanse their surrounding environments, and the Eco-friendly store who can manage their own catalogue of discounted items on the app, and benefit more generally speaking from the added exposure provided by both the locator and notification features.

The app’s clean interface and focused feature set are designed to allow for a seamless user experience.

The app has not been programmed yet as it is still in the design phase. The core features listed below will be augmented further as the GreenPool project develops.

The core features:

The Map Locator Feature:

This feature is directly linked to google maps. It displays both the location of the Eco-friendly boutiques/restaurants in a given area in addition to locating the GreenPool bins in that area and more specifically the ones closest to the user. Through this helpful but straightforward feature users don’t have to go out of their way to find both stores and bins, thus turning the service into a convenient and dynamic way to interact with the environment.

My Stats:

The “My Stats” feature allows users to see their Point Balance, how many points they have already used and the total weight of trash they have collected since first signing up to the GreenPool service.

The General Catalogue:

The catalogue feature is designed to look like a Pinterest inspired online store. It allows users to scroll and look for items that are currently on sale and that are within their point balance or slightly out of reach. While not visible in the dummy screenshot as of yet, the catalogue page will allow users to “save” items to a “wish list”, and will provide users with updates on the status of their saved items—i.e. are they still on sale/sold-out?

Specific Store page:

The particular store page can be accessed through both the maps feature and the general catalogue feature. Within the Maps feature users can search for specific stores, and when located can click on the stores to gain access to their catalogue page. Also, users can also gain access to the specific store catalogues—e.g. the store catalogue of Naturalia, when scrolling through the items of the general catalogue. When selected, an item will display both the name of the store and a link to the catalogue of that specific store. While all features of the app will be monitored and updated by the GreenPool team, stores will be allowed to manage their catalogue pages.

Tasks n’ Rewards:

The Tasks n’ Rewards feature allows users to gain access to actual “tasks”, which once absolved will be rewarded with eco points. Tasks may range from simple tasks such as collecting a specific weight of plastic in one day in exchange for a certain amount of points (higher than the standard point per kilo rate) or more elaborate tasks such as going to the Jardin de Luxemburg to help clean up a certain area. Users may click/hover over the different functions to learn more about them and to sign up for the task/challenge.

GreenPool Notifications:

Users will receive notifications on their phone when they are either in the proximity of an eco-friendly store & bin or when a new task/challenge has been published. The Notifications, if enabled by the user, act as friendly reminders and encouragers.
