Read-y
Bringing culture and people closer
...
...
While the French books’ overproduction is constantly growing because of policies implemented by publishing agencies, students seem to read less than ever. Concerned by this statement, we tried to bring an ecological, efficient and easy to implement solution: Read-y.
Read-y aims to bring culture to students by promoting “books’ swap”. In order to do so, we worked on an application project (either usable on phones and computers) that enable students to find second hands’ book and to get it by exchanging one of their own book. The process is not just intuitive, it also uses geolocalisation, personal interests and already exchanged books to suggest books to users. Therefore we hope to generate a positive cultural stimulation.
However, Read-y does consider universities concerns: profesors would be able to post their own book recommandations’ lists in order to facilitate readings and learning. The process is supposed to first be implemented in Sciences Po, as the community is quite culturally effervescent and inclined to join the community. Several Sciences Po teachers have already stated their interests to benefit from the project.
We tried to grasp thanks to a poll our beliefs that a major client market exists in universities. Below are some of the extremely positive results obtained (over approximately 100 answers, gotten through social media polling).
Questions | Positive answers | Negative answers |
---|---|---|
Do you read second hand books? | 79% | 21% |
Have you ever participated to a second hand book exchanges? | 25% | 75% |
Would you do it if the process was facilitated? | 89% | 11% |
All the documents and references (letter of intent, application mock-up version, poll results, etc.) are in the ‘Documents’ area.
