France is the 8th coffee consuming country in the world, with an average of 6 kilos of coffee consumed by inhabitant every year. Thus, coffee is the most consumed beverage in France, after water. Since the 1990s, single-use coffee capsules have progressively become the dominant way of making coffee, leading to… 16 capsules consumed per second in France!

However, do you know that only 1 coffee capsule out of 4 is recycled today?

Yet, aluminium, the main component of coffee capsules, is extremely easy to recycle and can be used indefinitely. It can participate to the manufacturing of cans or scooters for example. When collected, coffee leftovers within capsules are used as compost.

What stroke us is that the problem does not come from a lack of solutions to recycle coffee capsules, preventing employees from doing it a work. It exists plenty of them! The issue is more deeply rooted in employees’ habits and culture. Recycling capsules requires attention, a little bit of time and some motivation.
